About

Often, the first question that we are asked is "What is Baraka?". In essence, the word "Baraka" transalates to "Blessing". In Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, it is customary to receive three pours of coffee from the Jebena or coffee pot by the hostess during a traditional coffee ceremony, this is said to complete a transformation of the spirit. That third pour is called "Baraka" and it's considered bad manners to leave the ceremony prior to the bestowing of the blessing. We believe that at the heart of this ceremony lies the desire to build new friendships and strengthen old ones.

Baraka Coffee Co.'s story begins with two lifelong friends whose quest for the finest cup of coffee compelled them to go about finding and roasting the world-class coffee their home country of Puerto Rico was once known for. The result is a refined coffee that is meticulously roasted to order in small batches and offered directly to consumers. Our goal as a company is to nurture our relationship with farmers and producers, with our customers and above all, our relationship with coffee itself. That is why we are committed to continuing our coffee education so that the knowledge acquired through the years is able to translate into an ever better cup of coffee. In the process, we hope to contribute to the restoration of the Puerto Rican coffee industry and as a result, return its coffee back to its rightful place as one of the best in the world.

Whether it is espresso, cold brew or anything in between, we all have a preferred way of preparing and serving coffee, our very own coffee ceremony. At Baraka Coffee Co., we want to be a part of yours.

Blessings!
